Jonathan Marks Explains Quintessential Lesson From Father

his father.

I find myself rather perplexed and somewhat taken aback by the fact that I truly have no concrete lessons that I can point to and say, ‘Yes, that was it, the time he taught me how to shave, or fight, or throw a football with a spiral.’ My father represented my greatest elder, primarily because I felt I was most accountable to him; ironic in that we lived with my mom after they divorced when I was 10 years old. It was my father who spoke to me of the values of hard work, honesty, respect and integrity in all we did. I see that we went to my mom for matters of the heart, and my father for matters of the mind. Between the two of them, I came out a well-rounded, respectful, sincere man, with the perfect balance of heart and mind. “So, what did I learn from my father? To listen to my mother!
