A Few Of a Designer’s Favorite Things

Ruth Livingston, a designer with a studio and showroom on Tiburon’s Ark Row, has an exacting eye, a fresh approach and light touch with interiors. “ Everything inspires me,” she says, “but I’m mostly drawn to nature and the outdoors.”

And, indeed, that’s often the motif found in the furniture collection she designs. When it comes to her personal life, though, what are her must-haves?

“My view. I can’t live without being near the water and I’ve always lived with a water view. I have minimal window treatments because of the view and they’re concealed behind cornices. I use them mostly for privacy and to cut the glare,” she says.
